Dez update

The British Trials Cupgot off to a great start on Sunday 18th March at Bracken Rocks in Derbyshire. Some 60 riders turned out for the opening round of the national season, with plenty of new faces among the familiar old ones. As usual, riders would have to complete two laps of eight sections, which had been set over the previous two days on the wooded slopes of the popular venue. Unfortunately, with the sections having been set in dry and dusty conditions, it rained the night before the trial, meaning that the section setters were out early reassessing the sections and altering a few of the more dangerous gates. Despite the wet and muddy conditions, everyone set off in high spirits to attack the sections and cheered up even more when the sun came out at midday. This did have the effect, however, of drying the previously slippery mud into a very sticky clay, adding pounds of weight to everyone’s bikes as it clung to their tyres, shoes and clothing. This meant that there were some relatively high scores over the course of the day, with the already difficult sections rendered harder by the conditions.
in the Senior class (over 2Cool, a new category for 2012, Dave Barratt finished in first place on 57, followed by Derek Coates in second on 77.

1st silver medal for vandal rider derek, hopefully more to come.

more to come later

Ewart update

" Team rider Ewart is still off the bike following last years spinal injury. However treatment that included a root nerve block injection into his lower spine has had a great effect. He is going to try a quick ride soon but not until he gets back from a white water kayaking trip to the Pyrenees. His last trip there was for some wicked down hill action in summer 2010.
His just itching to get back on the bike but can not afford to trigger any lasting injury before he goes away.
To compliment Vandal support Ewart has just signed with Yak Adventure Equipment for another year. This maintains his 7 year relationship with Yak. He is stoked to say the least.

He's also back in the water getting plenty of waves on his board so when the time comes to get back on a bike he will be fit and ready. Hes not looking forward to being a bit slow and shakey though!

Diamondback BMX 2012 ( Vandal team rider Jay Cowley)

Ewart hangs up his wheels..

Some bad news from long time Vandal member Ewart .

"Thought Id better drop you a line,

Basicaly Ive had to give up riding due to my back injury. Turns out Ive exploded two of the discs in the lower back and now they poke out of my spinal collomn and press on my nerves. When this happens i cant walk. "

With a bit of luck it will get better after time and Ewarts still very much part of the Vandal family thanks to his DJing, Paddling and links with mtn biking. we wish him well and hope to see him on a bike again some time in the future.
